Biography
Zainab Ibrahim, MD is an Orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement and Orthopedic trauma surgery. She provides comprehensive care for patients with hip and knee arthritis, including primary and complex total joint replacement, partial knee replacement and revision joint replacement and reconstruction. Dr. Ibrahim also treats complex fractures and injuries, including fractures associated with arthritis, previous surgery and hardware, or around existing joint replacements.
Dr. Ibrahim is fellowship-trained in both adult hip and knee reconstruction and adult and pediatric Orthopedic trauma. Her surgical expertise includes robotic-assisted joint replacement, anterior approach hip replacement, same-day and rapid-recovery joint replacement, revision hip and knee replacement, as well as fracture fixation of lower-extremity fractures involving the hip, femur and tibia.
She is passionate about helping patients with advanced arthritis, complex or failed joint replacements, and deformity return to the activities that are important to them.
She earned her medical degree from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and completed her Orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School. She went on to complete an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Brown University followed by the Harvard Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Ibrahim has contributed to Orthopedic research and has presented her work at major national conferences, including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. She is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Ibrahim believes that effective Orthopedic care begins with listening to each patient’s concerns and understanding their individual goals. She takes an evidence-based, patient-centered approach, considering nonsurgical treatment options when appropriate and recommending surgery when it can provide a meaningful improvement in quality of life. Her goal is to help patients move with less pain, maintain their independence and return people to activities that matter most to them.
Born in Pakistan and raised in Virginia, Dr. Ibrahim speaks Urdu and Punjabi.
