Biography

Dr. Babatunde Fariyike provides orthopedic care to patients in our Alpharetta location. He specializes in orthopedic surgery with a special interest in sports medicine, knee preservation, throwers-shoulder, shoulder arthroplasty, and fracture care.

Dr. Fariyike is a proud Georgia native, raised in Thomaston. He earned a four-year athletic scholarship to Auburn University in recognition of his excellence both on and off the football field—War Eagle! During his time at Auburn, he competed in two National Championships, securing one title, and contributed to two SEC Championship victories. A pivotal moment in his journey occurred when he sustained a knee injury while playing football. Under the expert care of renowned team physician Dr. James Andrews, he was able to return to the field—an experience that deeply influenced his career path. Inspired from an early age by his father, a physician and role model, Dr. Fariyike always knew he wanted to pursue a career in medicine. However, his personal experience as an injured athlete solidified his desire to specialize in orthopedic surgery, allowing him to merge his passion for sports with his commitment to helping others heal and perform at their best.

Dr. Fariyike earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was elected Class President and served on several academic and leadership boards. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at New York University. In 2024, he returned to Alabama for a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham. During his fellowship, he provided care for athletes at Samford University, the Birmingham Barons (White Sox affiliate), and several local high schools. He also served as a team physician for both the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and the SEC Baseball Tournament.
