Dr. Baldwin Jefferson was inspired to become a physician after seeing firsthand how debilitating spine conditions affected her grandparents and their quality of life. Her experiences also gave her a deeper understanding of inequities in healthcare and motivated her to help improve access to high-quality spine care. She believes patient education is the foundation of effective care and takes the time to explain each patient's condition, treatment options, risks, benefits, and expectations for recovery. Dr. Baldwin Jefferson encourages patients to involve their families in their care, recognizing that a spine condition and the recovery process can affect more than just the patient. Her goal is to ensure that every patient and their family feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their treatment.
Dr. Baldwin Jefferson’s research interests include quality improvement in spine care, health equity and social determinants of health, multidisciplinary spine care models, and clinical outcomes and value-based care in complex spine surgery. She has published in scientific journals and presented at local, regional, and international conferences, including the North American Spine Society (NASS) and the Global Spine Congress.
