Biography
Dr. Dan Grahl specializes in helping patients restore function and achieve greater mobility. Dr. Grahl’s unique professional background enhances his understanding of all types of patients.
Prior to becoming a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Grahl was a high school teacher / coach, worked in landscaping and played collegiate baseball. Whether you are a student athlete or a hard-working professional, Dr. Grahl understands the importance of helping you get back to your life faster.
A native of middle Georgia, Dr. Grahl grew up in Fort Valley. He attended Peach County High School and played both baseball and football for the Trojans. Following his graduation from Peach County HS, he went on to play baseball for the Hurricanes at Georgia Southwestern State University. Dr. Grahl graduated cum laude from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He continued his education at GSW until 2005, while fulfilling his athletic scholarship playing baseball for the Hurricanes.
Dr. Grahl worked for the Department of Natural Resources, and then a landscaping company before starting his teaching career. He spent three years coaching football and baseball while teaching at Peach County HS. While working, he continued to pursue his dream to enter the medical field and was accepted to Mercer University Medical School in Macon.
After graduating from Mercer in 2013, Dan and his wife, Lauren, along with their son Ken, moved to Augusta for orthopedic residency. During residency, their family grew with the addition of two girls, Lila Beth and Sadie Brooke. After completion of residency, he received a Sports Medicine fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Grahl’s professional interests include complete orthopedic care of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle. This includes shoulder replacements, complex knee injuries, cartilage restoration, osteotomies, multi-ligament injuries, orthopedic fracture care and some joint replacement.
