Health Tip: Pets and Severe Weather

(HealthDay News) -- Keeping your furry friends in mind when severe weather strikes should be a key part of your family's safety plan, says the U.S. National Weather Service.

Pet owners should be sure to:

  • Bring pets indoors during storms.
  • Never leave pets alone in the car -- in hot or cold weather.
  • Confine pets to one room in case of flooding or wildfire.
  • Make plans to care for pets in the event you must evacuate.
