Health Tip: Understanding Parkinson's Disease


(HealthDay News) -- Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder that affects some 1 million Americans.

Symptoms typically include trembling, stiffness and poor coordination. often beginning gradually on one side of the body. As the disease progresses, both sides become affected.

Though there is no cure for Parkinson's, there are a variety of medicines that can treat symptoms, says MedlinePlus. For severe cases, surgery and deep brain stimulation may help.
